Meet the company providing paid time off for grandparents - FlexCareers

Schneider Electric has been one of our employer partners since April 2018, and it’s time we celebrate their success. We’re incredibly proud to work with such a great organisation and promote their flexible opportunities to our community!

About Schneider

As the global specialist in energy management and automation, Schneider builds technology that reshapes industries, transforms cities, and enriches lives. In a constantly evolving industry, Schneider is also leading the way in flexibility, diversity, and inclusion.

Diversity and Inclusion at Schneider

Diversity is our heritage and our future. Be part of it.

Schneider has made great strides to ensure their workplace is welcoming to all kinds of people, and the company has wonderful policies and initiatives in place to reinforce their commitments.

HeforShe

HeForShe is a United Nations Women solidarity movement for gender equality, and in 2018, Schneider celebrated its fourth year as a HeforShe Impact champion. Schneider CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire has made three commitments as a champion:

  1. Increase the representation of women across the pipeline
  2. Reach 85% of its global workforce with a worldwide pay equity process by the end of 2017
  3. Establish dedicated executive-level groups to drive towards gender parity across Schneider.

LGBTI Inclusion

Being inclusive is not difficult, but it is a deliberate action.

– Sonali Satpathy, Vice President Diversity and Inclusion.

By signing the UN Free & Equal Standards of Conduct for Business on Tackling Discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans & Intersex People, Schneider Electric made a global commitment to go above and beyond the diversity challenge.

As part of that commitment, Schneider launched a global leave policy in 2017 and adopted a global anti-harassment policy in 2018.

Flexibility at Schneider

Schneider has a full flexibility policy, with every job at Schneider having the ability to be flexible in some way. This includes working at home, job sharing, compressed work weeks, flexible dress code, and more. The organisation also has a toolkit for managers to ensure that flexibility is consistently enabled across the organisation.

Global Leave Policy

Of Schneider’s multiple leave policies, what caught our eye was the grandparent leave – this allows employees to take 2 paid days off to be with their family upon the birth, adoption or fostering of a child by one of their children!

In addition to that, Schneider’s adoption and foster leave policy has the same allowances as their primary and secondary parent leave – making this a truly inclusive policy for expectant parents.

Charity

Schneider’s charitable arm, the Schneider Electric Foundation, is committed to the development of people and societies through education, innovation, awareness-raising and vocational training related to energy. In 2017, Schneider set aside a €4 million budget for the Foundation.

To enable volunteer and charity work, Schneider has set up VolunteerIn, a platform designed to help employees find causes to support, as well as providing 21 hours of paid volunteer leave to employees.

As we continue to work with Schneider to promote their opportunities to our community, we’re excited to see what else this progressive and innovative employer brings to the table going forward.
