Here is Something You Should See…

Although AI systems are solving problems that were recently thought unsolvable, they face the very real threat of breaking down when they encounter the unknown. Even more troubling is that they have no mechanisms for recognizing when they are operating in an environment far away from their training data. What are the limits of AI? In his talk, Dr. John Liechty argues Artificial Intelligence would be better named, Augmented Intelligence, emphasizing that these systems are ultimately tools. Join Dr. Liechty as he evaluates the integration of AI into the world as we know it. 1. I eagerly await the time I can climb into a van, lean my chair back and go to sleep, and wake up the next morning hundreds of miles away at my destination. That stop sign example is a zinger though. It will be fascinating to see how AI shifts over the coming years to make self driving cars, robots flipping burgers, etc. a reality. I agree that it will likely require an "augmented" approach for us to realize the true potential of AI.
